Filmed in Nevada on a controlled-access highway.

The next great transportation revolution is here.

Self-driving vehicles will completely change how we organize our roads, our cities, and our lives. This technology promises to save lives, reduce emissions, and free up billions of hours for better working, playing, and living.

Embark is working to make the self-driving future a reality. While most of the spectacle has been around passenger vehicles, we believe that commercial trucking, the backbone of our economy, stands to reap untold benefits by deploying automated trucks - particularly during the “long haul” stretches.

Roads will be safer. Goods will be cheaper. Truckers will be called upon to use their skills in new ways while the truck itself becomes a trusted navigation partner.

We are developing the software that will serve as the truck’s central cortex: the intelligence that will drive the future of self-driving trucking.
The long haul stretches of open interstate between cities tend to be the most predictable, with less potential for unexpected obstacles like cyclists and pedestrians. It’s also where professional drivers are most vulnerable to distraction and drowsiness. An existing truck, equipped with the right sensors and the right software, can safely navigate this stretch without succumbing to boredom or tiredness. The human driver’s time and energy would be much better spent doing other things.
Getting back into the city — where there are more obstacles, more congestion, more unexpected construction - the professional driver will take over and safely navigate the truck to its final destination.

The garage is where the greatest inventions come to life. Disney. Harley Davidson. Apple. HP. Google. It's where die-hard enthusiasts can find the space and freedom to apply their talent to building something completely new.

Something critical is lost when invention becomes untethered from the garage. While others spend billions to develop self-driving on large corporate campuses, we believe that teamwork, passion, and an intense focus on the users of our technology will win out over raw size.
